On July 1, LAUP will reach another important milestone in the organization’s ongoing evolution. As our initial contract with First 5 LA comes to its long-planned conclusion at the end of this month, we are filled with both pride and gratitude for the achievements this partnership has made possible. We are also very excited for the future: With our new strategic plan firmly in place, LAUP is poised to build on this foundation and expand its impact on young children.
In addition to a continued commitment from First 5 LA of $50 million in funding over the next three years, we have secured additional grants and funds for the next three years that put us on secure financial footing. Our new Advancement Director is also working every day to ensure that we have a diverse portfolio to support our ambitious plans for the future.
As for our vision, LAUP will continue to build on our 12 years of achievements as we explore new ways to improve quality, enhance workforce development, engage parents and advocate for change. Preparing 0-5 year olds for success with quality early learning opportunities remains
our emphasis as we expand our reach.
Part of our transition involves welcoming a new leader. I am delighted to share with you a press release that was issued on Tuesday, June 28 announcing Scott Hippert as LAUP’s next CEO. Scott currently serves as the president and CEO of Parents as Teachers, a nationally recognized champion of early childhood education. Scott begins as LAUP’s CEO on August 29, 2016, and I am excited to support him in my new role as a senior advisor.
As we look to increase our impact through our programs as well as through our valued partnerships, I can’t help but feel excited about the future of LAUP and our field as a whole. I am confident you will find Scott to be an inclusive and strategic voice for early care and education – a leader who is committed to the entire ECE community as we all work together on behalf of young children.
You will continue to hear from us this summer, and I invite you to reach out to me at any time.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
