Do you know an outstanding early educator who deserves to be recognized for the meaningful work he or she does with children every day? Or maybe have a story of someone who is making a difference in your young child’s life? Nominate an outstanding early educator to be considered for the celebrated LAUP Early Educator of the Year Awards.
Each year, LAUP honors the achievements of standout preschool teachers who are making a difference in Los Angeles. Now in its 10th year, we are expanding this recognition to include educators in infant and toddler programs. We look forward to this time every year, that spotlights the integral movers behind the quality early learning programs in our communities.
To be in contention:
- Educators must be teaching within Los Angeles County
- The children they serve must be between the ages of birth to five
- Teaching locations may include: family child care centers, school districts, learning centers, private or public facilities, and any other infant/toddler or preschool program. Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten teachers are unable to qualify.
Nominations are due April 1, 2017.
In addition to receiving the Dr. Celia C. Ayala Early Educator of the Year Award, each winner is awarded a cash stipend through the Elizabeth Lowe / Bob Weekley Award for Excellence in Preschool Teaching endowment. Winners will be honored with a celebration luncheon in June and presented with an official scroll from the LA County Board of Supervisors.
